My name is Afshan, I am a Private Tutor
I am a qualified teacher with a Foundation Certificate (Integrated Technologies), HND (Design), BSc (Textile Design/ Management), BSc (Hons) Maths, PGCE (Maths) and a certificate in Mental Health First Aid. DBS cleared (updated annually).
I have gained experience teaching in mainstream secondary schools, independent schools and intervention schools as well as apprenticeship education programmes.
Over the past decade, I have worked extensively with students who have learning impairments such as dyslexia, speech and language difficulties and SEMH students under the guidance of SEND Leads and IEP. I have completed Career Development courses in autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD, EAL, speech & language and SEMH to further support students.
Coupled with my experience on various exam boards for maths KS2, KS3 and KS4 including Functional Skills for maths and English, KS3/4 art and design and textiles, I have an understanding of the National Curriculum and have the experience to tailor each lesson to your child's exacting requirements.
Services
I aim to nurture fluency and confidence through a range of subjects, with tutoring packages tailored to your learners' specific needs. All lessons will follow the national curriculum and International GCSE exam boards and IB as required.
Maths KS2, KS3 & KS4
With guidance, students will build their confidence with maths challenges across the key stages. My one-on-one instruction helps me to tailor tuition to the student's individual needs, aiding clear learning progress and understanding of each topic.
GCSE Art & Design
Taking art and design students from feeling overwhelmed and experiencing creative block to confidently producing exam-level projects. Providing simple tips and guidance for reframing a project and reinvigorating ideas, enabling students to feel confident in their artistic abilities.
GCSE Textile
Helping students to expand their knowledge of fabrics and textiles as well as the possibilities that come with them. You will gain an appreciation of material properties, techniques and processes while increasing your confidence in working with a variety of materials to help you achieve GCSE success.
GCSE English
Please note this subject will be offered in the coming months but is currently unavailable to book for tutoring sessions.

Art Scholarship Assessment
Assisting students to complete a timed, practical assessment such as drawing from observation or a creative task which enables them to demonstrate their skills in observation, creativity and problem-solving.

Pricing
Regular weekly 1 or 2 hour sessions are advised. I ask for all tutoring to be purchased in blocks of 4 to ensure continuity for the student and to hold your preferred lesson time.
